Players that are part of the Lewistown Soccer Club are expected to conduct themselves with distinction and appropriate behavior at all times. We want our club to be associated with the exemplary conduct of our players. It is our hope that as an organization, our team officials, coaches and parents will model conduct that represents our club well and develops positive habits among our players. However, in the event that a player falls below the expectations of our club, the LSC Board of Directors expects our coaches and officials to provide guidance and discipline in a way that is fair and consistent. When necessary, the LSC Board of Directors will review disciplinary matters at the request of a coach, player, parent or official of the Lewistown Soccer Club. This could be an incident that occurs during, around or in association with a Lewistown Soccer-related activity. As a matter of course, we expect all players to:
Show good sportsmanship at all times
Do not address remarks to opposing players, coaches, spectators, or referees except when remarks convey genuine friendship and respect or are in response to questions by the referee
Do not retaliate when fouled
Avoid comments or gestures, which express disgust or disagreement with referee calls
Convey a consistently positive attitude toward teammates, referees and coaches
Play against your opponents, not the referee
Treat your teammates with respect
Win or lose with character
Represent LSC, our facilities and our image in a positive manner
Players who persist in violating these standards of conduct will jeopardize their standing as players within LSC. An outline of disciplinary consequences will be up to, and including dismissal from the LSC organization. A consistent guideline for consequences would be as follows:
Level 1 - verbal redirect or on-field consequences such as running laps (ie - disruptive behaviors during practice or inappropriate language not directed at a person)
Level 2 - parent/coach conference and possible short term suspension (ie - bullying/harassment, physical altercation(s), disrespect or disorderly conduct)
Level 3 - suspension from practices and/or games (ie - vandalism of property, physical assault, derogatory language or racial slurs, inappropriate language directed at authority)
Level 4 - dismissal from club (ie - repeated infractions, severe or extreme behaviors)
Coaches will be given leeway for handling disciplinary matters within their team. On occasion, it may be necessary or helpful for a coach to consult with members of the Board of Directors. In the event of a level 3 or 4 incident, the coach will confer with a designated representative appointed by the Board. A written statement of the incident will be submitted to the Board of Directors. If a parent or player does not agree with a decision in a disciplinary matter, he/she may appeal to the Board of Directors for a binding resolution.
